Kate and Chris's Holiday (by
Kate)
We arrived to horrible weather, it was worse than
Britain with torrential rain, but luckly within a few days it had got a lot
better and we could start enjoying ourselves, me sailing the boat and Chris
catching up on lost sleep, (apparently he wants to be a marine!!)
We even managed a dip in the sea, though with a lot
of protests from Chris about the water being too cold! ( and he wants to be a
marine) it was quite warm really.
.
We have been to some lovely places and had some
great fun and eaten a lot of food! I'm sure Dad will write some thoroughly
riverting blog entries telling you all the interesting facts and figures
etc.
The tandem we hired on Nantucket was a lot harder
to ride than it looked, it was terrifying. Dad might have complained about my
screaming but I didn't see him offering to have a go. On the back was the worst
having no control of steering or the brakes was really scary, especailly when
Dad took us off road down sandy hilly tracks. Amazingly we only fell off
once.
We also both had a go at being pulled up to the top
off the mast (22m up in the sky on a rocking boat). Dad didn't think I would
make it to the top but I did without any screaming!!
This is Chris at the top with the boat beneath him,
and this is me winching him to the top, (it was hard work I can tell
you)
Dad and Chris have been bonding lots over the last
few weeks and have even begun to dress the same and have the same mannerisms!
Mum and I were quite embarrassed to be seen with the pair of them
We have just arrived in Port Washington nr New
York. It was brill seeing the New York sky line appear as we sailed closer,
seeing rise up out of the sea.
It has been a lovely few weeks, and we will be very
sad to leave on Tuesday. I haven't even been that seasick. It has been
great to see Mum and Dad. I can't wait to come back.

Love Kate x
Now I can finally get a word in I'm tired and need
to get some sleep... it's going to be a long day tomorrow following Kate around
the shops. Let's leave the Brunstrom's now as they tuck into a couple of
Frank Pepe's tomato pies from the home of pizza, New Haven. What fun they
appear to be having!
