We stopped here overnight on 12 August, having been invited by an Irish ex-pat that we met on another Hallberg Rassy yacht in Somes Sound, Maine. This tiny, beautiful, inlet is at the top end of Buzzard's Bay on the Cape Cod side. There was just enough room for us to anchor after a tight entrance (only 4.0m depth) but it was really lovely. Our friends Dave & Sally had us for dinner at their house, only walking distance from the beach.
On the way out the following morning we saw this 'bird box' in a neighbour's garden. Not many people can claim to have an osprey's nest in the garden - only in America! Interestingly this nest was being used as a nesting place for smaller birds at the same time. Ospreys vigorously defend their nest from predators, so the lower levels of their nest are a very safe site for sparrows and the like. A bit like a block of flats with a penthouse.
