The passage from Long Island Sound to the Atlantic
is an exciting ride down the East River between Manhattan and the Bronx in a
fast tidal stream, in our case on a cold misty and damp day. The New York
skyline, justifiably world famous, has been done to death by far better
photographers than us (and on better days) but here are a few of our
attempts just to prove we did the trip.
A few of the swanky apartments on the fashionable
East Side (of Manhattan Island) with the iconic Chrysler Building in the
background

than 3000 people died just over ten years ago.
![]() And of course, the Statue of Liberty herself (an
ideal somewhat tarnished by he Bush & Rumsfeld years). An idea of the scale
can be gained by looking at the plinth.
