Earthquake!

We felt an earthquake for the first time today.
Weird. We were just sitting having a tea in the cabin when the boat started
vibrating. Thinking that the stands propping us up were coming loose in the
fresh wind we rushed down to ground level and tightened everything up, only to
discover some time later that what we had felt was actually the magnitude
5.9 earthquake centred in Virginia way to our south.
But of very much more concern is Hurricane Irene.
We are sitting right in the centre of its predicted path, due to arrive with us
late Sunday afternoon with sustained winds of 100mph plus. Not a nice prospect.
We have been told that we cannot stay on the boat so are making plans for a
local hotel. Watch this space (or better still, watch the US National Hurricane
Center website).
