Nothing could be a less apt description of our
current situation. Despite months ashore and seemingly never-ending toil the
boat is nowhere near ready as our launch date looms ever closer.
Here is Ali a few days ago, swinging in a bosun's
chair suspended from the top of the mast, helping to fit our new solar panels on
top of our new arch. There is a six metre drop omto concrete beneath her, so
some care with knots is necessary.
It is amazing how much time is consumed by
commissioning things like this. There are lots of wires inside the frame (stern
light, flood light, two solar panels, wind generator and nine aerials), each
pulled through by cunningly placed strings amid much exertion and some cursing.
The tastefully arranged upside down yoghurt pots on the right are protecting
open tubes (where some of the aerials will be) from rain.
The whole edifice is now finished and everything
working. Hurrah!
