Wind now too strong, and of course in the wrong direction. Mahimahi’s autopilot has broken, and conditions are too rough to fix it, so they hove-to at night to rest. This is a method of staying more or less stationary by ‘backing’ the jib (getting the wind on the wrong side of it) - the boat rides the waves much more gently and the crew can rest. Now sailing again towards Mahimahi having drifted apart in the night, and waiting for the bad weather to pass. Good way to spend a birthday.
All well on board; ETA now unknown.
