Now on a free visitor's buoy at Port Washington in
Nassau County, Long Island in New York State not far from the
Queens Borough boundary. This place is where
Fitzgerald set The Great Gatsby. It was originally called Cow Pasture and Cow
Bay but the burghers decided it wasn't posh enough in the nineteenth century and
adopted the new name despite it having absolutely no known connection with
any Washington, human or place.
