We left lovely Tanna at 2200hrs last night, after
all too short a visit, and are now en route to New Caledonia. Checking out was a
challenge: two hours in the back of a pick-up truck on a dirt road each way to
town, then six hours trying to find the Immigration man to get our passports
stamped (Customs took five minutes). We eventually found him, having obtaind his
home address from the police chief at island HQ, unapologetically working in his
garden.
Now having a wonderful sail with a perfect 20 knot
wind behind the beam across a blue sea with white waves under a lovely blue sky
with fluffy white clouds. Glorious, and so different to our dreadful sail to
Tanna. ETA Noumea Saturday morning local time.
