The boat in this photo belongs to a young Norwegian singlehanded who
was partially dismasted thirty miles offshore and following engine
failure. The lifeboat towed him in - at a cost of 500€ because it was
not a life saving incident in their opinion. Thank goodness for the
RNLI! Anyway, the guy in the photo is a Norwegian (there are more of
them here than in Norway) in his eighties who was sunk twice in the
war while in the Merchant Navy. He put us all to shame by climbing the
stump of mast like a monkey in order to attach a rope for lowering.
Quite incredible. Beat that, Ian Cheek!
