The boat in this photo belongs to a young Norwegian singlehanded who was partially dismasted thirty miles offshore and following engine failure. The lifeboat towed him in - at a cost of 500€ because it was not a life saving incident in their opinion. Thank goodness for the RNLI! Anyway, the guy in the photo is a Norwegian (there are more of them here than in Norway) in his eighties who was sunk twice in the war while in the Merchant Navy. He put us all to shame by climbing the stump of mast like a monkey in order to attach a rope for lowering. Quite incredible. Beat that, Ian Cheek!
