First stop, Rottnest Island again. The weather is not behaving. Firstly our departure was delayed by the year’s strongest winds (68kts in the marina as against the forecast 30kts; thank goodness we had the sense not to put to sea), and then there was no wind. So the chance was taken to spend a few days on beautiful Rottnest just 10nm off the mainland coast. Firstly, looking back towards the Perth skyscrapers visible on the horizon, and secondly looking out from the south coast with two elderly ladies on a bench taking a well-earned rest: Of course it’s not all relaxation. Here is half the crew trying intently to work out how to improve the rigging of our telescopic spinnaker pole. It’s not easy this sailing lark, you know: |
