We left Fiji last night after mearly three months, marred by poor weather. We left a bit late having been delayed by the lack of an Immigration Officer's stamp and lack of wind, and as a result had to sail out through the reef in the dark. To be safer we used the ship channel which is deep and lit - but it the wind wasby then very strong & right on the nose, the lights shown on our chart were different to those actually present, the channel through the reef is less than a quarter of a mile wide, and we had not used this pass before. Definitely not for the faint hearted.  Breakers close to on both sides in the pitch black is exciting, even when you're pretty sure you're in the right place.
Now en route to Vanuatu, about 500 miles away, under a 100% overcast sky with some drizzle and a strong following wind. ETA Friday, we hope.
