Australia has a huge range of wildlife – there’s much more to see than in NZ, and much of it seems to want to be seen. Here is a skink basking in the sunshine on a rock at a tourist waterfall in the rainforest:

This smart chap is Eulamprus amplus, one of very nearly 1000 reptile species here (we have a grand total of 6 in the UK), and there are about 750 birds compared to about 150 in NZ.  This one is a large brush turkey Alectura lathami somewhat ludicrously lying on its side sunbathing next to the rainforest car park. As mentioned already, it is very cold here at night, and the nights are long, so these birds must really welcome the chance to warm up in the morning sun:
