Hi there readers - I know there are some of you because gratifyingly several complaints have been received re lack of recent activity on the Blog. The reason for this is simple - I managed to short circuit the computer, frying its insides. Computer now in bin. Hard drive stopped working, and it was feared that everything on it was irrecoverable. And the backup wasn’t working properly. Agh!
However it transpires that all that was damaged was the drive motor itself, and a very clever company in Perth have managed to recover all the data, they say - all 212 000 files of it. I’m off to pick it up tomorrow. I have no idea what to do with nearly a quarter of a million files.
In the meantime the opportunity has been taken to replace the fried computer with a lovely Apple Mac; I’m now struggling with transferring all our various systems on to it. In way beyond my depth.
The short circuit also damaged our SSB HF long range radio which has gone to Sydney to be fixed - we hope.
We have a number of other electronics issues of varying severity to resolve at the same time, so it’s chaos here.

However, with luck I’ll get our photos back tomorrow and can then update the Blog with our trip from Port Lincoln to Perth, and swimming with the whale sharks at Exmouth. Or not.

Watch this space.
