Well, we're halfway across in nine and a
half days. As previously observed maladministration of the ship's stores
has resulted in there being no champagne on board, so the line crossing ceremony
was marked with Hershey (chocolate) bars and some liquorice allsorts that we'd
forgotten about.
In addition to passing the halfway point we have
also regressed another hour, so ship's time is now UT -8 (BST -9). We need to do
this another twice before we arrive - although rumour has it that for some
reason the Marquesas are running at UT -0930 rather than UT -10 like the rest of
French Polynesia. We shall see.
