There are loads of islands off the Queensland coast. Lots and lots, most uninhabited and now gazetted as National Parks though many have been used as farms in the past. The VS has stopped at a few on our way north. Here is a typical beach on Great Keppel (named by Cook after a contemporary British Admiral):

Here we are (second from right), anchored in yet another beautiful bay. This one is White’s Bay, Percy Island (there are lots of islands named after people and places in the north of England, most named by the famous and incredibly unlucky surveyor Captain Matthew Flinders RN in the first few years of the nineteenth century):

 

 

Normally we have places to ourselves but a strong wind predicted from the north caused several boats to seek shelter in ‘our’ bay.

There is a lot of sand. Here is half of the crew of VS demonstrating dune surfing on a truly enormous sand blow on Percy:

 

 

It’s not all sand though; here is the other side of Percy:

 

 

And here is the south side of the channel between Brampton (this side) and Carlisle – note the brown coral reef fringing the island.  We’re now about 21S, well within the coral zone:
