So, here we are in Santa Cruz de La Palma, after a cracking 50nm/8 hour sail from La Gomera yesterday in bright sunshine and perfect wind. According to the locally the weather is unseasonally sun here at present. Perhaps the weather gods have not yet noticed my arrival.
We are in a spanking new top quality marina, only opened three months ago; it is expensive for Spain, but much better than and considerably less than half the price of Pwllheli. And with free sunshine. The only downside is that as with many Canarian marinas it is an adjunct to the local commercial port (because there are no natural harbours here). As you can see from the photo the local container ship docks nearby. Quite noisy while loading, but it's gone now so everything is peaceful. Bliss.
Santa Cruz is extremely pleasant, and la Palma looks as if it's going to be wonderful.
STOP PRESS. It's raining.
