We are now sitting gently at anchor in 8m of water at Atuona Bay, Hiva Oa, French Polynesia. Anchor down at 0800hrs local time - half an hour ago. All safe & well, everything in order. Trip was exactly 20 days to the hour, and 3033 nautical miles.
Hiva Oa is an extremely rugged volcanic island with luxurious green vegetation - probably because it rains all the time, as it is now. A beautiful smell of wet (very wet at the moment) vegetation is wafting through the anchorage. And the island looks very smart and prosperous, a complete change from the Caribbean and Central America.
