Slower progress in unsettled weather; there really is a lot of cloud in the Pacific. I'm trying to learn the southern constellations but it's nearly impossible. A combination of lots of cloud and almost unintelligible 'guide' books, mostly written for people lying on their back in a field with binoculars at a latitude of 45 degrees north. But I have managed to find the Southern Cross (as appears on the fags of New Zealand and Australia), and our nearest star. Alpha Centauri at 4 light years, I seem to recall (guidebooks silent on this).
