We left Galapagos yesterday at 0800H local time and have made excellent progress - after weeks of fitful and contrary winds we have picked up a nice south-easterly breeze which has wafted us down overnight nearly into the Trade Wind belt - in fact we think we might actually be in the Trades now; and we have definitely reached the South Equatorial Current which is pushing us west at about 1knot. With luck we should now have a consistent SE wind, and westgoing current, all the way to the Marquesas - only about 2900 nm to go.
