New York, New York

The passage from Long Island Sound to the Atlantic is an exciting ride down the East River between Manhattan and the Bronx in a fast tidal stream, in our case on a cold misty and damp day. The New York skyline, justifiably world famous, has been done to death by far better photographers than us (and on better days) but here are a few of our attempts just to prove we did the trip.

A few of the swanky apartments on the fashionable East Side (of Manhattan Island) with the iconic Chrysler Building in the background

The new towers rising above Ground Zero, where more than 3000 people died just over ten years ago.

And of course, the Statue of Liberty herself (an ideal somewhat tarnished by he Bush & Rumsfeld years). An idea of the scale can be gained by looking at the plinth.
