The inability of Bermuda to provide the necessary parts for repair to our autopilot has forced a change of plans on us. We need to go to somewhere with a big marine commercial community and we could not be certain that Halifax offered that, so we set sail for Newport Rhode Island USA at 0900hrs yesterday (we're only 4 hours behind UK BST now). This is a trip of about 650nm as the crow flies and should therefore take about five days - but of course the wind is right on the nose, and we have the Gulf Stream to contend with. Good progress overnight though; only about 100 hours of handsteering left.
