A week ago, we had a great night at Bosuns Rodney Bay with OCC friends old and new to celebrate Hilda Julian's birthday. The 2 for 1 happy hour coincided with the 15$EC BBQ special to make the best value evening you are likely to get in the Eastern Caribbean.

We set off last Saturday in perfect conditions but fatigue was taking it's toll and we were relieved when we saw that conditions in Grand Anse D'Arlets were very quiet. We had the usual "crevette" lunch there the next day and then headed north to St Pierre to await a good forecast for Dominica. In St Pierre, we met Pete & Anne Thomson on Maia, fresh back from the celebrations at Les Sables-d'Olonne. They kindly hosted us for dinner and we reciprocated the next night, although Chrissie & Pete were both struck down by heavy colds.

As seems usual in St Pierre, we had to ward off a succession of French yachts, determined to anchor as close to us as possible. The sharp tongue of our ladies and a very powerful torch did the trick on each occasion.

As forecast we had a perfect wind on Thursday to head up to Prince Rupert Bay, Dominica but sadly we were only able to overnight there, particularly as the wonderful P.A.Y.S organisation were organising a week of celebrations in honour of their yacht clientele.

Yesterday, Friday, the winds were not really as forecast so our short hop to the Saintes was mainly an exercise in motoring and water making. We will stay here for 3 nights or so before heading up the West coast of Guadeloupe and then onwards to Antigua.
