Éowyn is docked
in Rodney Bay Marina, St Lucia
My blogging is getting lazier &
lazier! you would think we were tucked up at home - but no! here we
are!
The day before we were due to fly out
on 6th April, Chris's recent tooth implant decided to fight back and she could
not fly out. Virgin Atlantic changed her outward flight for the very reasonable
administration fee of £700 and the new arrangements were made.
Fortunately Mike Birch was flying out BA the same day so we met up at VC
Bird airport and duly arrived onboard Eowyn> All was well after the 6 week
absence and after a day or so socialising we set off for Deshais Guadeloupe .AIS
is a wonderful thing telling us that David & Ann Marie on HR39 Calypso were
about 10 miles ahead of us. Gin was duly served in the anchorage and
the next day, Mike & I braved the rain to visit the excellent botanical
gardens, famed for its excellent restaurant as well as the plants.
Our planned visit to Marie Gallante
had to be put on hold because the winds did not serve but that meant we had some
extra time in the Saintes, never a wasted experience! We managed some energetic
(for us) hiking, together with several "degustations" of the local cuisine.
Yet another fast sail took us to
Dominica and the excellent care of the boat boys in Prince Rupert Bay. Yet
another visit to the Indian River was followed by the excellent P.A.Y.S Sunday
barbeque.
Still sailing well in the 20 knot
Easterly winds, we roared to Fort de France Martinique where we spent 3 days
limin' and generally relaxing before yet another 5 am start to arrive in Rodney
Bay. Saturday saw Mike depart and Chris, laden with boat spares and Branston
pickle flew in on Sunday.
Today, Tuesday, we sail to the Pitons
with an early start to Bequia tomorrow. The winds look good - we shall
see!!! |
