Afloat!
Eowyn

From the bow of Éowyn in St David's
Grenada
Éowyn is presently afloat in St Davids Harbour, Grenada in position 12:01.184N 61:40.734W. We arrived at the yard on Friday 17th
November keen to get on with the fitting out work. We had yet again
underestimated both the physical effort needed and the effect of the heat. There
were a few minor problems to resolve, notably 2 plastic oil containers which had
imploded and spilt their contents in lockers. The damage was quite minor but did
take half a day to clean. Chris was very keen to install the new led lights to
the stern, but leading the cables through the yacht took another half
day!
We were again the only yacht in the
yard painting our own antifouling and I think this will be the last year we do
this backbreaking task. The only other significant work was the installation of
a flexible shaft coupling to reduce vibration from the engine. In the end, we
splashed 1 day late on Wednesday afternoon. We had been staying at La Sagesse
Nature Centre until then but Wednesday saw our first night
afloat
La Sagesse Main
Building
We returned to La Sagesse on Thursday
night for a Thanksgiving supper with fellow cruisers Bob and Kathy, Tim and Val,
Annie and Rick. This morning we leave for Prickly Bay to buy watermaker spares
and provision Éowyn for the next few weeks.
