This update is sent from Store bay Tobago in position 11:09.46N 60:50.45W.

The winds and waves were still too strong on Wednesday to sail comfortably to Tobago, so we delayed till Wednesday evening, the last chance to get there in time to meet Steve and Jacqui.

The additional advantage is that it left me enough time to complete the installation of the solar panel and continue to run in the new Tohatsu outboard.

The expensive solar panel mount which I had bought was not up to supporting the weight of the panel on its mast, so I had to adapt it to make an adjustable rail mount. This seems to work pretty well.

In the event we had a comfortable overnight passage to Tobago, albeit a beat. Helga the Hydrovane took care of the steering so all we had to do was keep watch.

On arrival at Scarborough we had a 2 hour wait to clear customs and then back too Store Bay to anchor.

We only just made it to the airport in time to meet Jacqui - fortunately her Virgin flight was 30 minutes late! Steve's flight was due 45 minutes later but we then learnt that there was a serious technical problem and it was delayed. XL airways were particularly poor in keeping the passengers informed and in the event Steve had a night in Grenada and only got to us  by 1400 the next day. He seemed pleased to see Jacqui!

For the next couple of days we all recovered from our journeys and sat out some wet squalls. Today we are sailing to Plymouth as we circumnavigate Tobago clockwise.

I took the plunge this morning and formally entered the World ARC to Australia - see www.worldcruising.com
