Éowyn is underway from Recife Brazil to Grenada in position 01:51.001S 037:35.127W

We have just passed a night of zero wind mixed with squalls, both rain and wind squalls. Now (0540 am) we are gently sailing again. we motored for over 5 hours in the night.

In the days before we left Brasil, much of the talk was in the nature of "What Next?!

Some of the participants such as Jochem & Jutta on "Chessie" plan to go around again but a little more slowly. In their case because of some boat problems, they had missed much of the Pacific and were playing catch-up after their repairs.

Others seem to be dreading returning to their former existence. I know that this has been an all consuming project, challenging on many levels, but for me I can't wait to return to family and get back into my old routine - perhaps with a slightly changed perspective on life, more reflective and living for each day. Of course there are places I have seen that I would like to return to and explore more deeply and there are others such as New Zealand which were missed because of the Rally programme.

We are now just 1,650 miles from completing our circumnavigation, but I am mindful that those miles still have to be sailed and there are many potential hazards to upset the apple cart. Jeanne Socrates in "Nereida" probably was counting her chickens when she was wrecked with just 60 miles to complete her transit of the globe.

We still have the doldrums to cross and we should be there in a couple of days. Unlike Jack Aubrey, we have the "Iron Tops'l" to help us make our way through.

Tomorrow Bob will cross the equator for the first time. I hope the Gods are kind!
