Eowyn

Éowyn is anchored at Trois
Islets, Martinique
Our sail last Wednesday to the
Saintes was a delight with an Easterly wind speeding us there in 4 hours. We
were ashore exploring and reserved an electric car for the next day. This turned
out NOT to be one of the new fancy electric
vehicles but more akin to a milk float. Chris was the driver and she did a great
job but struggled to master the mystery of engaging reverse! We visited the
usual spots including a great lunch at Edouard's La Saladerie. The next day we
were off again with the wind gods on our side down to Dominica.
These days the boat boys in Prince
Rupert Bay are an example to the other Islands in providing a very professional
service including a night security patrol. We were served by "Lawrence of
Arabia" and his cohorts. we booked an Indian River and full Island tour as it
was Mike & Val's first visit here. Both were excellent and were over far too
soon. We headed off to Roseau last Monday and mingled well with the cruise ship
passengers ashore!!!! Unfortunately our mooring was subject to a North Westerly
ground swell so sleep was a rare commodity!
However I had anticipated a South
easterly wind with the usual counter current South of Dominica on our passage to
Martinique. Instead it was Westerly, no current and we had a fast smooth sail to
St Pierre. Unfortunately the swell was evident there too so we continued down to
Fort de France to enjoy a quiet nights sleep, but not before dinner at La Fayaal
and clearance at the Sea Services chandlery
For an even quieter night we moved
the 5 miles to Trois Islet but this sleepy town was a bit too quiet even for we
party poopers. Today, Thursday we anchored at Anse Mitan for lunch where we were
treated to a show from about a dozen traditional racing skiffs
![]() We now move to Grand Anse D'Arlet for
another quiet nights anchorage (hopefully) and tomorrow to Anse L'Anne to see
Mike & Val off on Saturday
