Underway to Bali
Eowyn
Wed 1 Sep 2010 14:31
Éowyn is sailing
westwards from Darwin to Bali in
position 12:16.680S 130:21.350E
We completed our quarantine
treatment in Fannie Bay and the next day entered the locked basin of Tipperary
Waters Marina.
This pleasant environment
includes restaurants and a nearby chandlery. As well as our blown out mainsail,
we discovered that the miles have taken a toll of the genoa and the UV strip had
to be replaced. Australia is an expensive country and these 2 jobs cost about
$1,000 Australian or £600. The replacement alternator was ready for an easy
installation and these, together with
some minor works were completed with the minimum of problems. Our serious
computer issue was mainly resolved by the purchase of a new laptop in Darwin. If
it works, this blog will be posted!
On the social side we made
tours to Litchfield National Park and to the Adelaide River to see some awesome
crocodiles. - photos to follow.
On Monday Andrei Buttu joined
us after the long flights from Geneva. He has the same type of yacht and his
help until
Cape Town will be most welcome. Andrei brought me yet another computer, this time a small netbook. We should tke about 6 days to
Bali, but the foreecast is for rather light winds. At the moment we are
progressing very well with the fleet.
We are now underway to Bali in
light sailing conditions
