The Adventure Begins!
Eowyn
Mon 14 Dec 2009 15:42
Éowyn is lying in Le Phare
Bleu marina Grenada in position 12:00.194N 61:43.441W
Mike & I flew out to
Grenada on 3rd December to prepare Éowyn for launching. Chris & I had
visited for 2 weeks in September, so much of the hard work had been done. The
major improvement was the installation of a forward looking sonar for the coral
reefs of the Pacific. Isaac of Grenada Marine helped with the through hull
fitting which is much larger then the usual yacht fitting. Mike & I
installed the cable run and electronics. We launched on 8th, one day late - not
too bad by Caribbean standards. We then motored to Phare Bleu to have a new
watermaker membrane fitted. This exposed a further problem so we ordered some
spares from Trinidad and went to Prickly Bay to meet friends and to stock up
from the supermarket.
Eowyn in Le Phare Bleu
By now, Val, Chris &
Carole had arrived and Chris, Mike & John took some time to dive with
Scubatech as we all worked through the usual list of small tasks.
Back at Le Phare Bleu now, the
spares have arrived and we are awaiting the engineer from Palm Tree Marine to
fit them.
If the watermaker is repaired,
we will sail at dawn Tuesday for Union Island in the Grenadines , then to Bequia
and St Lucia to prepare for the final checks before the start of the World
