Éowyn is sailing from
Cocos Keeling to Mauritius in position
18:17.281S 072:49.436E
We have suffered gale
conditions with winds above 30 knots for more than 1 week, the longest any of
three of us have experienced difficult conditions. The biggest problem was not
the continuous wind, but gusts up to 50 knots and very often 40 knots. The swell
made life onboard most uncomfortable. Everything, particularly cooking , is very
difficult.
So far the only damage is to
the bimini which tore away one night, but we have secured it for repair in
Mauritius.
Tonight, Monday, the wind is
25 - 30 knots with clear skies and life is more comfortable onboard.
We are all smiling
again!!!
So far we averaged almost 7
knots and hope to arrive in Mauritius on the 10th October.
