Éowyn is moored in Le Port Ouest, Reunion in position 20:56.371S 055:17.001E

We had a good start from Mauritius, but the winds were very variable both in speed and direction. During the afternoon we made good progress under asymmetric spinnaker, but between 4 and 6 pm conditions varied from flat calm to 30 knot winds, mainly on Mike's watch. I was duty chef so cooking was a little fraught! we settled on a small reef in the main and 4 rolls in the genoa and overnight we had perfect broad reaching conditions. We averaged 7 knots which is pretty good for our size.

As usual we were greeted on arrival by Paul and Suzana of World Cruising. They had flown from Mauritius but were on call at 0330 to see the first arrival Grand Filou into the harbour. Not surprising that they needed some sleep later in the afternoon!

We arrived before 0800 and rafted alongside Jeannius, Thor VI joining us an hour later.

In the evening we had a welcome ceremony of music dancing food and drink and also learnt that our stay in the basin would be generously sponsored so now mooring fees would be payable. amongst the music was some frenetic drumming by local children. we could see how they got their energy by their repeated visits to the buffet queue!

We mange to do a full rigging check every 4 weeks or so, but as there is a Selden agent here, I am having it done professionally. Emilio from Kalliope did this and 2 major faults in the spars were discovered!
