Since the last posting we have been cruising the Western San Blas Islands. The next post will be by Broadband and will include a large photo update.

We have now seen 3 distinct type of Island, the archetypal desert island with a few palm trees, a coral reef and maybe one or two families living there, the small very crowded inhabited islands with folk in traditional dress living in basic huts and the mangrove islands  close to the mainland. At one of these we were kindly invited to supper aboard "Bristol Rose" an Australian Shannon 43. We had delicious curried wahoo, evidence that the were rather more successful than us at fishing

Yesterday, the 20th, we started to make our way along the coast to Colon. We have stopped at Isla Linton which is a very sheltered anchorage close to a couple of poor Panamanian villages. Life is fascinating here and we decided to stay a second night. We also made a long dinghy passage through the mangroves - totally unspoilt. We have just had our first Panamanian dining experience - Creole octopus in a "restaurant" run by an ex-pat Dutchman.

Early tomorrow, we set off for the 30 mile passage to Shelter Bay marina where we have an appointment with the sailmaker.
