We left Deshais at first light and were rewarded by the wind backing to the East giving us a lively but comfortable sail to English Harbour, Antigua. Anchoring in Freeman's Bay, we met Dick & Irene Craig who had been there for some time visiting granddaughter living on the neighbouring yacht. They had also been babysitting our new Parasailor, After sundowners, I collected the new sail but was surprised at how large the sailbag was!! It was going to be difficult to find a good stowage for it, out of sight.

The next day, we moved to Falmouth Harbour and anchored in a secure spot near the Lytles on Oriole a beautiful Bowman 40. We enlisted their assistance to dock the next day in Catamaran Marina where our rig work was to be carried out.

Antigua Rigging did a great job in replacing the faulty Selden fitting without removing the mast and in addition, I replaced the spinnaker halyard and had some rope work done.

On Wednesday, we joined John & Chris Lytle and others for a fun evening with dinner at HotHotHotspot in Nelson's Dockyard. entertainment included John's lengthy recital of a Stanley Holloway monologue!

We then set off to Jolly Harbour to arrange some further work on Eowyn.

A couple of nights followed in Deep Bay, where Chris's back improved enough to scramble up to the fort overlooking the anchorage. Sundowners were shared fore those nights with Richard & Elaine on Nemo.

On Monday last, we had George, the cabinet maker onboard to re-partition the locker under the aft bunk and when his man Colin had finished, I was at last able to stow the Parasailor out of sight. We hauled at 0700 the next day and began our lay-up procedures. Whilst this was being done an engineer was onboard replacing the faulty stern gland. Once removed, it was clear that the problem was simple wear and tear - 36,000 miles has taken its toll!

We had rented a small villa for 3 days, complete with a fun golf buggy. as the villa sported a giant washing machine, the opportunity was not lost to freshen up the boat linen and remove the backlog of clothes washing.

Once work was completed , we were able to relax a little more and that was to include a sensational 50 minute helicopter flight to the Montserrat volcano.
