An Unexpected Invitation
Eowyn

Éowyn is underway
to Portland Roads in position 12:41.994S 143:29.902E
We left Night Island this
morning after an unexpected evening. We had sailed 160 miles in quite
difficult conditions requiring great concentration. We slept most of the day,
but inm the afternoon, a 120 ft gin palace, Spirit of Freedom anchored close to
use, then 3 large sport fishing boats rafted alongside. Finally a helicopter
joined the group.
Shortly after, a RIB came over
to invite us to dinner. Apparently Fred Turner, former chairman of MacDonalds
charters every year for 3 weeks for friends, family and business associates. We
had a great meal washed down with suitable beverages. The guests were mainly
American hunting and fishing types. A most welcome example of US
hospitality!
We continue to sail North in light winds and only have 40 miles both today and tomorrow. |
