One Third Distance
Eowyn
Sun 14 Mar 2010 22:33
Éowyn is still under way to
Marquesas in position 05:33.603S 109:32.765W on Sunday 14th March. About 12
days to Hiva Oa.
We had planned a bigger blog entry today,
but events dictated otherwise.
The group of yachts we were with have now
pulled ahead as the winds favoured them more. They are all larger and faster
boats.
We had two probs today!! To catch up we
were flying the spinaker this morning but the pins on 2 shackles broke and we
are back to genoa whilst we work out a solution. A bigger issue was to lose the
engine. There was a problem with cooling - the inlet seacock was blocked and the
impellor shredded. Five hours later, th eengine is running but there are
still some chewed up bits of impellor in the system. The day has gone dealing
with these issues so no bread made today.
John is still looking for his first
albatross, no luck so far
cake baking in the Remoska oven. Because
propane is difficult to obtain in French Polynesia, we have to be very careful
with the gas. |
