This update is sent from The
Tobago Cays in position 12:37.95N 61:21.41W.
As planned on Monday 11th December we
departed Rodney Bay for Marigot but not before we were reunited with several
cruising friends in Café Olé where we were taking in our last ice cream milk
shakes and decent coffee for some time to come!
Sunday had been a planned maintenance
day including waterproofing the bimini. after the battery and other earlier
problems, maintenance is now the usual routine. The only major task outstanding
is the necessary replacement of our dinghy. I dislike towing, so it may be we
will have to have an Avon Rover exported from the UK.
Several days of diving followed in
Marigot Bay with Dive Fair Helen including a first for us, the Japanese wreck
the Dayni Kot Maru. We were tied to the mangroves in the lagoon at Marigot,
because of our dinghy problems, but I must report no problems whatsoever with
biting insects, the usual problem here. For the first time we dined at the
Rain Forest Hideaway restaurant and I must say it thoroughly deserves it growing
reputation as on of the best restaurants in the Windwards.
On Thursday Jacqui arrived from
Manchester somewhat exhausted from the flight and five hour drive from Stirling.
On Saturday we had a great sail to Bequia after a pleasant night at the Pitons.
After the closure of "Bang", the Jalousie Hilton have all but doubled their
restaurant prices so dinner was onboard! Bequia was quieter than I had ever seen
it and after a night and a restock at the Rasta Market, we set off to the Tobago
Cays where we are now at anchor. Next week should see further cruising in the
Grenadines returning to Bequia for Christmas.
This posting was by Iridium and it
does seem of late that there are very wide gaps in the coverage. I had to wait
20 minutes to get a sufficient signal to send this post and then only with the
photo deleted.
