On 4th December we arrived in Fort de
France, Martinique. Clearance is now undertaken by the chandler, Sea Services
and it was from them we had ordered the new batteries.
The batteries were just the right
size, but Mr Murphy and his law meant that the polarity was reversed so there
was a bit of playing with the wiring so that they would easily fit. The
anchorage was too rough to ship the batteries so we sailed to Shoelcher nearby
to take some soundings near the pier. Deciding it was too shallow, we returned
to Fort de France where the wind had backed to NE making it a bit more
comfortable to transfer the batteries in our small dinghy. This was
completed successfully and we soon had cold beers again!!

Anchor up at Marin
The next day we sailed to Marin to
examine some dinghies and on Thursday 7th, we had a sail back to St Lucia in
perfect conditions for Éowyn, averaging 7.5 knots. We decided to treat ourselves
to 3 days on the dock at Rodney Bay and combined this with some diving with our
favourite St Lucia operator, Dive Fair Helen.
The ARC yachts are beginning to
arrive now so tomorrow, Monday, we will depart for Marigot Bay to await Jacqui's
arrival on Thursday
