World ARC 2010/11 Draws to a Close - Photos
Eowyn
Tue 19 Apr 2011 13:28
Éowyn is now in Rodney
Bay Marina, St Lucia in position
14:04.592 N 060:56.592W
We left the Piton anchorage
for the short sail to Marigot Bay. Chris was there on the dock with a great
welcome!
There the fleet would assemble
for the final parade to Rodney Bay. This would signal the start of a long round
of farewell parties at Marigot & Rodney, prolonging the agony of the
separation from the special group of people who had become such an important
part of our lives.
After 4 days at Marigot
on the 16th April we lead the parade of sail via Castries to the finishing line
in Rodney Bay. The weather was kind to
us so as well as dressing overall, we were able to hoist some sail to create a
suitable spectacle. we ere joined by a number of local yachts as finally, we
crossed the same line we had passed on 6th January 2010.
The Parade & Finish
The inevitable drink was there
to meet us as we celebrated our achievement
Jim & Mike have Finished!
The Merry Men & Women
In the evening there was a
final farewell dinner. Eowyn was last to be called to the podium where we felt
honoured to be presented with a silver salver to represent the "Spirit of World
ARC" in recognition the efforts to rescue Basia after their collision &
dismasting.
None of our achievements would
have been possible without the great support of World Cruising. Andrew Bishop
& Nick Martin played a great role in helping us achieve our ambition but the
front line pairing of Paul Tetlow & Suzana Buraka frequently went way beyond
the call of duty to make our lives easier in a calm efficient way.
THANK YOU PAUL & SUZANA
FROM THE CREW OF EOWYN!
