A funny couple of weeks!

Éowyn is alongside in
Port Louis Marina, Grenada
We have more backup systems than any
other small yacht I know. Suddenly many of them have been brought into use to
replace failed systems.
The serious fault was in the propane
system. A leaking pipe was traced to salt water damage from a leaking spring
cleat. The is was partly remedied by Tevin from Grenada Marine but some more
advanced brazing required Michael Cadore to complete the job. We can now cook a
3 course meal without the risk of a small nuclear explosion.
The supposedly "bomb proof" Amptech
alternator has failed for the 3rd time, so I will call into action the backup
Volvo unit. We can replace the Amptech in St Lucia. We now have a working
outboard, so can bimble around the anchorage. Today we actually went sailing
from Le Phare Bleu to Port Louis, a distance of 10 whole miles. We are not
usually marina dwellers but this location is convenient to load our shiny new
anchor chain.
We are also suffering a bit on a
personal level as Chris's chikungunya symptoms are reappearing and I am enjoying
a bout of shingles! However, Jochen Lenz's excellent wines are helping to soften
the pain!
We will stay here for a week before
heading north, sadly though we will have to miss our planned diving in Carriacou
as Chris has a return flight from St Lucia in early
February . The winds look good -
we shall see!!! |
