Éowyn is moored at anchor
in Fort de France, Martinique in position 14:36.024 N 61:04.179W
We don't have internet at the
moment, only Iridium email, so no photos in this update.
We had a great 5 hour sail
from Saintes to Portsmouth, Dominica. There we put ourselves in the hands of
"Lawrence of Arabia", a member of PAYS, the Portsmouth security group and a tour
organiser. We started with the obligatory tour of the Indian River which is
always a delight and on Wednesday, we took a full day Island tour with Joe &
Sharon on the American yacht Caris. We had a great time with guide "Uncle Sam"
visiting the highlights of this most beautiful place.
As the weekend weather was
forecast to be not so good, we left Dominica on Friday for another bright sail
to St Pierre, Martinique. Unfortunately, the decompression cable decided to
commit suicide. Fortunately, it did so only a short distance from Frank Agren's
Inboard Diesel, the Caribbean Volvo Penta dealer. We saw his man this morning
and are booked in for Monday morning for a replacement.
We are a bit weary, so will
stay at Fort de France tonight, visiting Solshoer tomorrow close to the repair
facility for Monday morning. A few changes here as Jacques & Ciarla seem to
have retired from the excellent chandlery Sea Services and sadly both our
favourite patisseries have closed down!
All being well, we will be in
Rodney Bay St Lucia on Tuesday, where we will have internet and can upload some
photos. Rodney Bay is only a 40 mile sail from here usually with the wind behind
the beam.
