Guadeloupe, Bon Accord
Eowyn
Fri 20 Apr 2012 21:54
Éowyn is at anchor
in Deshais, Guadeloupe in position 16:18.391N
61:47.920W
We set off from the 5 Islands
anchorage at Jolly Harbour at dawn with a forecast of light winds.
In the event we had almost
perfect sailing conditions with an Easterly wind of 15 - 20 knots. We averaged 7
knots and arrived at Deshaies in the early afternoon. On arrival there was a
downpour which kindly stopped for us to clear Customs at the local internet
cafe.
Deshaies is a very picturesque
town in the Brittany style, but the fact remains that it is a total dump! we saw
the most disgusting chicken which must have been on a rotisserie for at least a
week and the supermarket gets worse with every visit.
However this morning we hiked
up the hill to the saving grace. The botanical gardens are superb and even have
a first class restaurant to boot! We had a great morning and for the most part,
the weather cooperated.
Chris has been playing with
her new Camera!
We have just heard from
friends Bob & Kathy Glassman that they have sold their lovely Mason 44, Bon
Accord. They say that the only good days of yacht ownership are the day you
buy it and the day you sell it! bob & Kathy have owned Bon Accord for over
20 years and it must be a real wrench to see her go to the new
owners.
