A Plan Emerges
Eowyn
Tue 17 Apr 2012 14:40
Éowyn is afloat in Jolly
Harbour in position 17:03.980N 61:52.996W
Our second cruise will be less
ambitious than originally planned, mainly due to the back problems which both of
us are enduring. We plan a leasurily sail from Antigua to St Lucia hopefully
taking some time out in Guadeloupe and Martinique and some diving in Dominica -
hopefully with whales. We will be joined in St Lucia by Richard & Sue for
our sail through the Grenadines and we will have some time for diving in Bequia
and another 2 weeks of diving after R & S fly home from
Grenada.
As we get more ancient, we are
allowing an extra day or so to commission Eowyn and this time was no different.
We rented a villa from JoAnn Reddick who tragically had lost her husband of 50
years earlier in the week. Eowyn was in good order and we seem to have got rid
of our ant problem at last. There were not too many problems initially until the
computer charger went on the blink. A temporary replacement was cobbled
together and a new one ordered for Richard to bring out.
I have always been
impressed by the way the boatyard haul and launch in Jolly Harbour. This time
was no exception as they extracted Eowyn from a tight spot with one lift and
transferred her to the travel hoist for final launching, the whole process
taking less than 30 minutes.
Eowyn is
Extracted
We moved to a marina berth for
a couple of days to finish the chores and plan to sail to Morris bay on
Wednesday and onward to Deshais, Guadeloupe on Thursday. The winds look quite
favourable at 15-20 knots from the East.
