Éowyn is back in Marina
Bas-du-Fort, Guadeloupe about to depart for Deshais and then
Antigua
We spent 5 nights in the Saintes which are a very
attractive if touristic group of islands to the South of Guadeloupe. There are
now moorings which are compulsory in some of the anchorages but seem to be taken
by about 1100! We managed to get the last mooring, not in a very
convenient position but the next morning we moved up to a more convenient spot.
One great benefit of these mornings is the daily delivery of croissants and
baguettes at 7 30 in the morning. Almost compulsory is scooter hire so we rented
one for a day and bimbled around the main island visiting the fort and taking
time out to lunch at La Saladerie our favourite restaurant in these parts.
Yesterday, Tuesday we set off at dawn to return to Point-a-Pitre
where Chris saw Dr Causee again this morning. He was pleased with her progress
but prescribed another 10 days on a heavy Amoxicillin dose. However he cleared
her to travel onward. We have been very happy with the medical facilities here
and it was certainly the right move to get here as soon as possible to treat
Chris's tummy infection.
At the crack of dawn we set off for the 50 mile passage to
Deshais with a very fair forecast which hopefully will hold to take us to
English Harbour, Antigua on Friday |
