After departing St Lucia we set sail for Le Marin, Martinique - the main objective was to research alternative batteries - the physical size needed for Eowyn's battery box is only available in the French Islands.

The winds were kind in both strength and direction and only 4 hours later we were anchored in the harbour having waved to Valkyrie as they passed us heading South. The next day we cleared in at Fort de France and thence to St Pierre. Diamond Rock bizarrely was once commissioned as a British warship so that once armed with long guns, the Brits could take pot-shots at the French approaching Martinique!!!

We had intended to stop at Prince Rupert Bay, Dominica but again conditions were good for a 7 knot passage so we continued to the Saintes and anchored at dusk at Ile de Cabrit. Karen & James Eaton in Blue Heron were hot on our heels and then next day we all lunched at the excellent La Saladerie. The winds are quite fresh at the moment so we will stay here for a few days until the abate. Yesterday, Sunday, we rented motor scooters and whizzed around the main Island. Karen cut short her scooter ride as she was desperate to hear the New York Giants win an important game (they lost!)
