It's a long time since the
last blog, more than 2 weeks in fact so much catching up to do.
After Fort de France we got
our new stop cable on the engine and moved to anchor in Petit Anse, D'Arlet, a
delightful small and quiet anchorage in an ideal spot to set off for St Lucia.
we arrived at the English speaking Island on Tuesday 1st May and cleared in to
Rodney Bay where we could provision and buy some much needed chandlery for
maintenance.
By Friday we were in The
Marina at Marigot Bat to receive our visitors Sue and Richard, out for 2 weeks.
This was their first visit to the Caribbean so we had a lot to show them. After
letting them get some rest we took a taxi tour of St Lucia to include Soufriere
and the rain forest. on Saturday evening we used a free dinner prize given to us
by Graham on Clearlake 2. we had a Caribbean buffet and our guests first
introduction to the local cocktails. We all agreed we would not swap our
floating life for the romantic all inclusive sanitised ambience of The
Rendezvous.

However the next day, taking
our guests to our favourite anchorage at The Pitons, the reality of the
approaching rainy season kicked in with a vengeance! Rain, rain,
rain!!!
Never mind - onward to Bequia,
making the anchorage at Admiralty Bay just before nightfall, but missing the
onerous new overtime charges at Bequia customs & immigration. the sail
was a cracker with the wind 20 knots just abaft the beam. Another taxi tour,
this time the small island paradise of Bequia with the turtle sanctuary,
traditional boatbuilding et al. Because of our guests time restraints, there
were only a couple of days here but we did manage to find them their first roti
at the local restaurant The Fig Tree.

Too short a visit again and
off to Tobago Cays, the island paradise where we took a buoy and snorkelled with
the turtles. Reality struck in the night with a raging gale taking out Windex
off the mast and causing significant damage to the Duogen wind
generator.
