Éowyn is moored in Caudan
Basin, Port Louis, Mauritius in
position 20:09.610S 057:29.806E
The last 36 hours of the sail
form Cocos were much better than expected with a fine reaching wind giving us
almost 7 knots. We arrived earlier than planned at 1300 on 10th October to the
usual reception from the ever present and efficient Paul and Suzana from World
Cruising. As well as welcoming us, we received the news that we had been the
overall winners of the last competitive leg Bali to Cocos Keeling!
The Caudan Basin in Mauritius
is an ambitious new development of shops, restaurants, 2 hotels and the marina
basin. World ARC have been given exclusive use of the basin for our stay and
complimentary berthing, electricity and water! That's a first!
Chris arrived on the 9th, a
day before Eowyn and we moved to the Le Suffren hotel, a short water taxi ride
away from Eowyn. The hotel is very comfortable and a welcome break from the
confines of the yacht.
We have rented a car for the
duration and at last can enjoy a proper holiday.
The bimini proved beyond
repair, but we have a spare and that is the only major work. The other jobs, we
will spread over 10 days. Andrei has started a Scuba course and Chris & I
will do some diving next week.
In the meantime we are
enjoying touring Mauritius and taking advantage of the excellent French &
Creole restaurants
