Namena Island is about 20nms from Savusavu. Theres a marine reserve surrounding the island which has a rather run down resort at one end. A large proportion of the island is also a reserve, with a large breeding colony of Red Footed Boobies, Ground Doves, Fijian Starlings, Frigate Birds, Fruit Bats, Banded and red breasted swallows, I'm in my element. . .An overgrown path mianders over the hill to the other side of the island which has a couple of beautiful beaches , in addition to all this there's some spectacular diving on Namena Reef. |
