Our trip back to England for 3 or 4 weeks to tie up loose ends turned into a 7 week marathon. We moved 6 times into temporary accommodation and had one false start when we came back to Lagos, only having to return to England the next day! So it was with enormous relief that we set sail on Tuesday 19th October for Porto Santo ,an island north east of Madeira.
At last the significance of our journey has hit me! What a pleasure to be on our boat, our 'home' surrounded by our own things and setting off to warmer climes. The passage of three and a half days gently eased us back into sailing mode, our watch system has formed some regularity at last, 3hrs on 3hrs off from 8pm to 8am. The moon almost full and with the aid of my fabulous reading torch (thank you Carol) I even managed to finish reading a novel. A huge pod of dolphins jostled for position in our bow wave for a good 20 minutes on Wednesday evening which seemed to confirm we are now part of another world . . . -+
