The weather is wild this morning as we set off for another adventure! We haven't really agreed on our destination today, which is never a good idea. The options within 30nms look a bit tricky so after about 10nms in one direction I come up with the clever idea of doing an overnighter to Province Town,Cape Cod about 100nms. The lobster pots were reducing drastically, making for a far more relaxing passage, the risk of thunder storms was diminishing and fog was less likely too. . . Unfortunately the wind was in the wrong direction but never mind.
We have to motor the whole way, the monotony was relieved by searching the horizon for whales as we passed over Stellwaggon Bank, a renowned whale feeding ground. Then the fog set in. . . .for 5 hours we watched the radar overlayed on the chart plotter, our attention only disturbed by announcements from the US coast guard every 30 minutes, informing us to keep a sharp look out for a barge adrift in the area of Stellwagon Bank. . . .
Fortunately Province Town has a very large and well sheltered anchorage, as we arrive at 3am miraculously avoiding the odd fishing float, we drop the anchor and hope we don't wake up to a very close neighbour!
