April 18,2019. Suez canal

We passed the Panama Canal in March 2016. Today more than two years later we are passing the other big canal on our way “home” to the Med. It’s a fascinating canal trip through the desert. No locks but we pass through the Great and Small Bitter Lakes. We have a pilot on board who is chatting in Arabic on the radio most of the time. Soon we will drop him off and enter into the Mediterranean and set course on Marmaris in Turkey.

We had to wait an extra day in Suez so we then went to Cairo and Giza to see the Pyramides and the Sfinx. Impressive !
